A whole lotta smoke will be blowing across The Thames this summer.
Pitt Cue Co. is a maverick operation that sees young chef Tom Adams and entrepreneur Jamie Berger bring their own version of BBQ to the Southbank, as part of the Festival of Britain.
The festival is a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the original of 1951, a four-month showcase of British culture and creativity that will see appearances from Heston Blumenthal and Jancis Robinson, restaurant Dishoom, as well as artist Tracey Emin and musician Billy Bragg.
A custom-made trailer is the home of Pitt Cue Co. along with a smoker imported from the US, where they will reveal a short menu including smoked pulled pork shoulder of Gloucester Old Spot, Rotisserie Chicken, Longhorn Salt Beef Brisket and Smoked Corn.
Craft British IPA beers are lined up - BrewDog from Scotland, Kernel from Bermondsey, Sambrook’s from Battersea. A cute addition will see the appearance of a Pickle Back, a shot of whiskey chased by a shot of pickle brine, currently sweeping through the bars of New York. Slam a few of those puppies down, they’re curiously addictive…
Oh yeah, and I’ll be helping them out.
